HR System Development
To compete in the knowledge age, organizations must increasingly rely on the knowledge, skills, experience, and judgment of all their people. This brings us to the role of the human resources department.
Organisational strategy affects HR practices. Is your HR department contributing to the total business strategy? Or are they only consulted as an afterthought or when a problem suddenly emerges?
HR clearly has a more strategic role to play today. Aligning HR with the total business and making it as accountable as a line function necessitates both job re-design and mind-set changes. The potential gains, however, are substantial
A Core Measures study of HR practices highlights the opportunity for a transformation in how HR functions. This involves HR building on effective handling of traditional personnel activities to take on leading edge professional human capital practices underpinned by strategic HR policies.

If you feel there is a call to dust off the traditional HR
responsibilities in your organization and engender a new
strategic endeveavor, then Core Measures can help.

HR Auditing
The role of human resources (HR) is changing. International and now local research has shown that sound HR practices are key to an organisation achieving its objectives whilst increasing employees’ level of commitment. Progressive organisations embrace a well-executed HR audit as an important tool for creating, updating and executing HR strategies and best practices. An HR review also prepares the department to meet the organisation’s current and future business challenges and to support its strategic goals.
Core Measures audit of the human resources department is a four-step process: data collection, evaluation, analysis, and action planning. The audit proactively advances the professionalism of HR by identifying:
- Strengths and development areas of HR systems
- Staff perceptions of current HR practices
- Levels of satisfaction with current HR approaches
- Important areas that HR should focus on
- Current business challenges and proficiency levels
- The role HR should play to meet such business challenges
Core Measures will prepare a written report, with an action plan to institute change.
In summary, organisations that choose to maximise their advantage will make use of the HR audit to ensure that future HR practices play a hands-on role in the company's strategic planning and implementation.
HR Re-Design
Core Measures provides re-design support for HR to transform from a personnel function to a strategic business partner. This could entail a complete cultural make over for the department and its staff, implying some self-reflection and appraisal.
Whether for an on-going operation or a new business venture we can work with you to develop human resource practices. This includes an audit of all HR processes, mapping all skills available and those required. Such an HR role gap analysis provides the basis for creating HR team structures. This is followed by the facilitation of an HR team strategic vision and charter, HR team scorecard with key performance indicators linked to roles, responsibilities, tracking and evaluation methods.
Performance Consulting
Performance demands on employees are increasing. Managers have high targets to achieve and do not always feel they have the necessary resources to attain them.
Tossing a training solution to address a performance need may not be the answer. Solutions to problems someone said ‘are like keys to locks, they don’t work if they don’t fit’. Traditional training approaches in support of performance change are not always the answer.
Performance consulting is the process by which one works with management to identify and achieve performance expectations linked to business goals.
Core Measures two-day training process turns identified staff into performance consultants. By the end of the skill based workshop, participants are able to devise & plan performance solutions. This is achieved by learning how to develop collaborative working relationships with key executives and how to identify the performance problems and requirements of their employees. Participants learn how to determine the interventions needed to attain performance expectations and how to measure results.

Organisational Surveys
Organisations use surveys to find out what is happening. Typically, they want to measure or prove improvement / deterioration in levels of service, productivity, processes, culture, motivation or satisfaction. To do this and other analyses require both quantitative and qualitative data.
We all know that a company is only as good as its employees. Optimising employee satisfaction is key to the success of any business. That's why it's so important to get their feedback, respond to their needs, listen to their ideas / suggestions and fast. If you could read your employees' minds, you'd have higher retention rates, lower absenteeism, improved productivity, better customer service and higher morale.
Therefore, effective and insightful employee satisfaction research is key to understanding how to achieve such expectations.
Climate Surveys
Our Organisational Change Assessment Survey (OCAS) is a customised, and comprehensive questionnaire that assesses an organisation's culture, principles and climate. OCAS is not ‘a one size fits all’ survey. It is adapted to fit the requirements of your company.. It can act as a climate survey and look at various aspects of HR: employee engagement and commitment; staff morale and job satisfaction; cooperation and teamwork or customer focus; innovation and continuous improvement; and, supervisory effectiveness, adequacy of performance feedback and developmental coaching.
Customised Questionnaires
Besides climate surveys we carry out performance management surveys, leadership and potential studies. In addition, we are happy to customize additional surveys on specific HR systems and organisational issues. We also provide customised questionnaire design and administrative support to increase response rate, reliability and statistical validity. In addition to our easy to understand reports, we coach you to make certain the survey is actioned and not archived.
